ConocoPhillips

ConocoPhillips, 6th largest oil company – corporate venture / alternative energy strategy. We have advised the ConocoPhillips Emerging Technology and Alternative Energy organizations on everything from corporate venturing strategy, upstream and refining technologies, energy storage and battery technology, water technologies, and entering the renewable and alternative energy business including, solar, geothermal, and wind.

Meridian Energy

Meridian Energy Ltd, NZ’s state owned power company – technology investing / acquisition and development of global solar IPP. We worked for multiple years advising New Zealand’s all renewable wind and hydro powered state owned utility on its corporate venture portfolio and new ventures. The areas we worked ranged from superconductors, grid scale energy storage, battery technology/EVs, biofuels, solar, and carbon markets. Key successes include initiating and leading the development of a $100 mm solar business case for Meridian and anchoring its launch with the cross-border acquisition of California startup Cleantech America, with a 385 MW pipeline of solar development projects in 2009.

Shell Oil Company is the United States-based wholly owned subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell, transnational corporation “oil major” of Anglo-Dutch origins, which is amongst the largest oil companies in the world. Our engagement focused on developing strategies in cleantech, including providing market intelligence and benchmarking.

Redflow Ltd.

Redflow Ltd. – U.S. advisor to this global provider of energy storage systems, headquartered in Australia. We are advising and assisting Redflow on growing its presence and developing and implementing a strategy to commercialize its flow battery technology in the USA. The engagement includes establishing a US entity as well as accelerating relationships with larger customers and system integration partners in the USA market.
Macquarie Bank

Macquarie Bank

Macquarie Bank Ltd – US advisor to the leading Australian tech VC fund and investor. For more than 5 years we advised Macquarie Bank’s technology arm on its US venture fund and investment portfolio, which consisted of A$50 mm in managed venture funds and over A$100 mm in direct investments, and maintained an office for Macquarie in San Francisco. We advised on over a dozen startups and transactions for Macquarie or its portfolio companies, including in workflow management software, healthcare IT, payments processing, ATM management, and cleantech, as well as providing incubator space for ANZATechNet and a Macquarie backed storage software startup.
